Home Tools

Men love receiving tools. Most men begin collecting tools in their adolescence. The problem is most young men’s tool collections are a random gathering of odd tools. In order to have a good basic tool collection some essentials are required, and when it comes time to own a home it’s definitely a must to have these basics.

Tools have been used by man since the dawn of time. Tools are what separate us from the animals. Some of the most commonly used tools have rudimentary beginnings. Hammers for example most definitely originated from rocks used as pounding instruments. Hammers are also known as mallets, pestles, and sledges.

Pliers are also an ancient invention, coming from the use of two twigs. The twigs evolved into bronze around 3000 B.C. Some other common tools came about more recently in human history. The handheld screwdriver was not invented until 1800, after the invention of metal screws. The circular saw was also not invented until 1777.
Home tool sets should have the following basics:

•Hammer

•Measuring tape

•Several sizes of flathead and Phillips head screwdrivers

•Pliers

•Monkey wrench

•Level

•Basic assortment of screws and nails
